Shirley Friedlander owns the Office Center of Gurnee, providing twenty-one deluxe offices suites, many amenities and complete office services  for tenants, the public and for clients who work from home but have corporate identify programs with her.

The business, believed to be the oldest business office services company in Lake County, operating since 1978, also provides association management.  The responsibilities may include handling complete association work or parts of it such as developing directories, mailings lists that will be updated regularly, making arrangements for meetings, handling reservations and even being responsible for golf outing details.

Clients range in size from large law firms to individual sales reps for Fortune 500 companies.  Outsourcing is very important to large and medium-sized companies who also often want the security and privacy that comes with the services.

Friedlander served as executive director of a chamber of commerce for nineteen years while also operating her business.  She was featured in many Chicago, business and suburban newspapers.  She has received  considerable recognition that includes the coveted LUCI Award, being frequently quoted and named the Outstanding Chamber Director. 

In addition, she was president of the Lincolnshire Morning Star Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Rotary Fellow, on the advisory board of the College of Lake County South Lake County Campus, member of a United Way board and on the committee of another United Way that decided who received funding.  She also is on the board for the Waukegan Township senior citizens. a past candidate for the Lake County Board and has earned addition recognition.
